Paying tribute to the King of Pop and sending his guest and invitees a single rhinestoned white glove, Virgil Abloh, Louis Vuitton’s artistic director of menswear and creator of Off White a popular breakout brand, paid homage to Michael Jackson and his infamous “Billie Jean” video. The visionary exhibition took place at the Grand Palais in Paris, France.
The brand recreated a spitting image of the Manhattan street corner at night that was a complete mock-up of the “Billie Jean” video. The most common color palette of the collection was a pool of asphalt grey with pops of red and purple. The collection feature double-breasted short jackets, lambskin turtle neck puffer vest, monogram shearling coats, and military-inspired padded sashes with oversized pockets.
Abloh also displayed the humanitarian side of Michael Jackson with the patchwork of a variety of flags that represented a number of nationalities.
Vigil Abloh hopes to inspire and act as a lighthouse for his younger followers to aspire to own these luxury items in the future and work for them.
